In Izhevsk, dozens of Russians staged a crush during the distribution of free watermelons in Gorky Park, where a holiday dedicated to the berry was held.

As planned by the organizers of the Watermelon Day, the townspeople were supposed to take a few berries, but due to the large number of people who wanted to, a stampede began.

The footage shows how dozens of Izhevsk residents, including children, are trying to collect as many watermelons as possible. Some of them fall and lean on each other. Someone over the loudspeaker urges people to be careful, but the crowd screams, does not pay attention to this and continues to fight for free berries.

This event is held for the second time. According to the organizers, they cannot be held responsible for the behavior of visitors to the festival. “We can only give people the opportunity to come to the holiday, and we cannot control the upbringing and decency of everyone,” the operator’s press service said.
