In the summer of 2021, I got really into golf and when winter rolled around in Michigan I wanted to keep playing but couldn't. I talked to my wife about building this space as a golf simulator/ movie theater room and she loved it as it would allow us to host people which we hadn't been previously able to do with our smaller house.

We had been living on my teacher's salary and putting all of her salary towards paying off loans and saving up for our next house. We had quite a bit saved up and didn't have enough to buy a new house so we figured we could use the cash to build this garage.

My FIL and BIL are all good with building so they helped me build the garage. Once everything was approved by the city I spent almost every day in my summer building the garage and 4 months later it is finally done.

We were able to build the entire garage + everything inside + garage stall you can't see for 67k, the simulator portion we did very cheap for 6.5k, and are super happy with the results.

We've had more friends over in a week than we would in a year because of this space.

I had no prior construction experience before this (besides high school woodshop)
