A leopard entered a house and took away a dog that was resting, in southern India's Tamil Nadu.

The incident happened near the Tamil Nadu government guest house, Westoda Residential Area, in the Niligris district, on November 4.

Visuals captured the moment the leopard sneaked into the house at night and took the pet away.

According to local sources, residents living in the same area contacted the forest department to warn them about the leopard roaming around at night.

Visuals captured the chilling moment when the leopard sneaked into the house through the gate and entered the house, before taking away the pet dog and fleeing from the spot. According to a report, the people of the residential area have been complaining to the forest department as the leopard has been roaming about at night.

The big cat entered the house in the middle of the night, went to the second floor of the house and mauled the pet and took it away.

The Westoda Residential Area has around 300 residential units in the area and the forest department is engaged in surveillance work of capturing the animal.

The people also have requested the authorities to capture the leopard in a cage and then subsequently release in a dense forest.

Movement of leopards in the vicinity of ‘Tamizhakam’ during nights was common, Forest department officials said, while adding that efforts were on to prevent the animal from entering human habitats.
