A crazed German biker lit a fire in his own house and climbed on the roof during clashes with police trying to arrest him in Thailand.

Tomas Veit, 47, shouted at officers surrounding his home following complaints from neighbors about his 'loud and domineering behavior' in Pattaya, Chonburi province on November 7.

While being besieged, he called his wife Julia Poppelbaum, 35, for help before lighting a car battery with a fuel tank before the flames erupted in his front yard.

Police quickly doused the blaze with a hose but were unable to enter the property since it was protected by three hostile guard dogs.

Footage shows Tomas, wearing a crocodile skin waistcoat, yelling at the officers from behind the gates. He carried on his rampage, destroying belongings inside the residence, and later climbed up to the rooftop.

After a while, he re-entered the home and, barehanded, grabbed a bundle of electric wires stretched across the second-floor balcony.

The standoff lasted for more than an hour before his spouse, also a German, arrived and agreed to distract her husband, allowing officers to force entry into the house.

Law enforcers seized the opening and grappled with Tomas, who remained uncooperative as he was hauled into the police vehicle.

Relieved neighbour Noi Pattana said: 'This foreigner has been living on the street for a while but lately he has become more aggressive. He is like a bully, always shouting and trying to show his dominance.

'I feel better now he has been taken away by the police.'

Banglamung Police Chief Colonel Nawin Sinturat said: 'Neighbours had been complaining about the foreigner's dogs chasing after children on the street. During investigations, we found that the couple had been overstaying their visas.'

He added that Tomas is currently in police custody, facing added charges aside from the reported overstaying violation. He is also likely to be deported and blacklisted, the police chief said.
