Numbers in cholera cases increase in Damascus, Syria, but as some sources claim, the Syrian government confirms the opposite.

The Syrian Ministry of Health announced that the death toll from cholera in the country has risen to 49, and the number of infections to 1249.

The Ministry indicated on its Facebook page that the number of deaths due to cholera reached 40 cases in Aleppo, 2 in Deir ez-Zor, 4 in Al-Hasakah, one in Damascus, one in Homs and one in Hama.

The United Nations called for the support of the Syrian government to confront cholera, calling for allocating an amount of approximately $34.4 million for a medical plan, up to three months, to avoid the spread of the epidemic in the Syrian regions.

While media reports confirm a significant increase in the number of cholera patients, reaching thousands, the Ministry of Health in the Syrian government confirms that the epidemiological curve remains stable.

The video, filmed today on Tuesday, November 8, at Ibn Al-Nafis Hospital in Damascus, shows that it is free of any cholera cases.

He also added:
– With regard to our hospital, we suffer from the siege, most of the devices unfortunately are of Western origin, there was suffering in securing spare parts. We hear in the media that there is no ban on medical devices, but there are many devices in the hospital that are out of service due to the lack of spare parts of origin. western.

In a press conference held on Tuesday afternoon at the Syrian Ministry of Health, Dr. Zuhair Al-Suhouri, Director of Chronic and Communicable Diseases, confirmed that the graph is stable and that the Syrian Ministry of Health has no concerns due to the strong measures taken to confront cholera.

A national plan was drawn up that included all concerned parties, and the role of each party was determined separately. An operational plan for cholera was drawn up from 3 Hubs, water, ecosystem and treatment.

He also added:
– Based on the epidemiological curve whose data is studied twice a week, and the proactive measures taken by the Ministry of Health and circulated to the governorates and relevant authorities, we are not afraid because our measures are strong even at the borders, where any suspected case is monitored.

– The epidemiological curve is flat, and this is due to the readiness of the Ministry of Health, with measures, early response, and early government measures, the number of injuries according to the cumulative update of cases that we announce every Tuesday and every Saturday, and according to the latest statistics, the number of cases is one thousand two hundred and forty-nine confirmed cases in various governorates.., – Alsahwi said.
