This is the spectacular moment an eerie 'beaver blood moon' hovered over Thailand during a lunar eclipse.

Footage shows the celestial body bathed in red as it hung over skyscrapers in Bangkok on November 8.

The rare 'blood moon' phenomenon occurs when the Earth, sun, and moon align, with the Earth's shadow covering the satellite and producing a red tinge.

The spooky crimson appearance is caused by the sun's refracted rays as they pass through the Earth's atmosphere.

This year, the eclipse coincides with the first full moon of November - called the beaver moon as the rodents begin to store food for the winter during this time, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac.

Astronomers said the beaver blood moon will be the last lunar eclipse until March 2025.
