A heroic woman lost her left arm after rescuing a toddler from being run over by a truck in southern China.

CCTV footage filmed in the city of Suining in Sichuan Province on October 2 shows a 2-year-old boy walking into a road when a truck was approaching.

A 46-year-old woman named Ran Tilan was seen running to drag the toddler back from the road.

However, Ran was hit by the truck causing her to pass out on the road.

Nearby residents sent the two people to hospital for treatment immediately.

The boy only had skin trauma but Ran had to have her left arm amputated.

In another video, Ran said in an interview: "I did not think that much, but dragged him back. I only thought of rescuing the boy.

"Although I lost my left arm and my right hand suffered severe injuries, I saved the boy's life. It is worth it."

The video was provided by local media with permission.
