Watch dramatic moment police swoop on man who threw eggs at King Charles during York walkabout

A man has been detained after throwing eggs at King Charles III and Queen Consort during their visit to York on November 9.

Footage filmed by David Smith shows the moment the monarch got out of the car to greet the crowd.

The culprit is heard booing as he threw eggs toward the King and Queen Consort. They were in York to unveil the first statue of Queen Elizebeth II since her passing.

The man was later detained by police officers. A few cheers can be heard as officers restrained the protester.

According to Smith, the crowd shouted "shame on you" to the culprit.
