Officials in Delray Beach, Florida, had to use three pickup trucks and a lift to anchor the city's famous 100-foot Christmas tree in place as Tropical Storm Nicole bears down on South Florida, seen here on Wednesday (November 9).

The Christmas tree, actually a fake tree with a steel structure hidden beneath its boughs, is scheduled to be lit at a ceremony on November 29. Nicole is expected to strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane as it reaches the shore. Its winds, 74 miles an hour or greater, have the potential to damage the tree.
