Remembering Yasser Arafat: Palestinians join festival day before his 18th death anniversary

Supporters of the Fatah movement join a festival organised to pay homage to former political leader Yasser Arafat ahead of his 18th death anniversary (November 11).

Footage shows crowds marching on the streets and artists playing the drum in Ramallah.

The video features an interview in Arabic with Majed Al-Fatiani, the Secretary of the Fatah Movement Council.

Arafat, also known as Abu Ammar, is considered by Palestinians as a revolutionary figure and a frontrunner in the fight against Israeli occupation.

In 1994, Arafat moved to Gaza, which was controlled by the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), the provisional entity created by the Oslo Accords. In the same year, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize fos his efforts "to create peace in the Middle East".
