This is the moment brave rescuers climbed into a storm drain to rescue a pet cat trapped inside.

The volunteers rushed to the scene in front of a department store in the Sattahip district of Chonburi province, eastern Thailand, on November 9 after being notified about the moggie's predicament.

The six-month-old male kitten named Kaikem had been stuck in the sewer for severl hours after falling into the hole while escaping from stray dogs chasing after it.

Footage shows how the team pried up the concrete drain cover and climbed down the ladder to search for the hapless animal in the darkness.

After a few minutes, the rescuer, covered in cobwebs, emerged with the cat in his arms.

The overjoyed owner took the feline and bowed to thank the local heroes.

She said: 'My male cat was running away from the street dogs. I only got him recently. I needed help from officers to rescue him since he fell down the hole.'
