This incredible Buddhist shrine has more than a thousand golden statues of deities - all worshipping one god.

The religious site - which is called Phuttha Utthayan Makha Bucha Anusorn - was built to mark the annual Makha Bucha day in Thailand.

Situated in Nakhon Nayok province in the northeast of the country, the spectacular shrine has more than 1,000 small statues of Buddha worshipping a larger statue of the figure. They are all painted gold.

The site has become a tourist attraction as well as being an active place of worship for monks and devotees.

Writing on TripAdvisor, one visitor said: 'This is a very impressive modern Buddhist site. It is a tribute to the revered Mukha Bucha event in the Buddhist Calendar, when 1,250 disciples came to see the Buddha without being summoned. This is spectacularly represented here by the large gold Buddha surrounded by the symmetrically placed smaller gold statues of the disciples.'

However, other disappointed visitors complained about the hot weather.

Another added: 'This is good only for local people who are Buddhist. Not a general touring spot. Newly built to attract tourists. No historic or scenic value.'
