Residents of the southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa danced in the streets on Saturday night (November 12) after Russian troops withdrew from Kherson, less than 100 miles away.

Video shows people draped in the Ukranian national flag gathered on Odesa's main thoroughfare celebrating the liberation of Kherson, holding hands and dancing to music. Kherson was the only regional capital taken since the war began.

"After eight months of occupation, the major Ukrainian city of Kherson is happy to be free and the whole country is celebrating," Newsflare's filmer said. "Odesa is close to Kherson and many internally displaced people fled here. Tonight, Odessites and Kherson refugees are dancing in Odesa's Derybasivska Street, chanting "Glory to Ukraine! Glory to heroes!"
