Madrid saw a massive demonstration in defence of the region's public healthcare system, on Sunday 13 November.

The huge protest was joined by residents, unions, opposition parties, celebrities, medical organisations and others, to oppose proposed reforms to the primary health care system by the regional government led by Isabel Diaz Ayuso.

Critics say the plans, which include public-private partnerships, would privatise the system and do nothing to improve access for the worst-off.

Estimate said hundreds of thousands of people attended the march.
