Hundreds of thousands of people marched in Madrid on Sunday 13 November, for public heath improvements and against reform plans being pushed by the regional government.

Officials estimated the crowd at 200,000 while organisers put it at over 600,000.

Attendees, backed by unions and opposition parties, demanded quality, universal healthcare.

Primary care in the Madrid area is under pressure and campaigners want it to be better funded and staffed rather than restructured, as the regional government seeks to do, with things like public-private partnerships.

It has been described as the biggest public opposition to the regional government of conservative Isabel Díaz Ayuso since the 2019 elections.
