Heavy overnight rainfall led to waterlogging in parts of Chennai on sunday while schools and colleges remain closed in 23 districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in view of the weather situation. The weather office has predicted heavy rainfall in parts of the state and the authorities have set up 5,093 relief camps, including 169 in Chennai.

Visuals showed roads submerged in the streets of Chennai as vehicles navigated the ankle-deep water. Family and children enjoy swimming in knee-deep floods on the world-famous marina beach. Due to the heavy downpour, many shops have been submerged in the coastal areas of Chennai beach. Normal life has been severely affected in the city due to this heavy rainfall.
