This is the heartstopping moment a terrified toddler shouted for his mother as the wall fan smashed inches away from him.

The little boy named Japan was earring cereal in the kitchen when the electrical appliance snapped off the wall and fell on the table in Kamphaeng Phet province, Thailand on November 9.

Footage shows the object landing on the dining table 12 inches away from Japan who was startled and burst in tears.

Mum-of-one Nathasiri Pasomthup said: 'I am appealing to other mothers like me who are also taking care of other things in the house. Wall fans should be checked every once in a while.

‘Our fan's screw was already loose and we didn't know about it until it fell and almost hit my son.'

Nathasiri added the boy was afraid to sit near the spot where the fan fell after the incident.

She said: ‘It makes me sad, my son seemed to have been traumatised and wouldn't sit near the table now after the fan fell. I know he will get over it soon.'

The youngster, however, was unhurt and the electric fan was later removed from the kitchen.
