Thousands of University of California academic workers went on strike yesterday (November 14), demanding higher wages and better working conditions reflecting the rising cost of living.

The strike involved four academic-appointee bargaining units: Postdoctoral Scholars, Academic Researchers, Academic Student Employees (teaching assistants/readers/tutors), and Graduate Student Researchers.

The United Auto Workers (UAW) plans to continue the strike until a deal is reached.
