An elephant was rescued by the forest department after it fell into a well in Gundlapalle, Andhra Pradesh, on November 15.

Footage shows the jumbo struggling inside the watery pit. Onlookers gathered around as the elephant used its trunk to touch the grass on the surface.

A team of forest officials, led by Chaitanya Kumar Reddy, used an excavator to dig out a section of the well so the elephant could climb out.

Visuals show the animal escape the well and making its way back into the forest.
