Sometimes monkeys can be very cheeky and will steal your belongings. I found a way to scare them off. I learned this trick from a Buddhist temple high in the mountains, that had numerous precious Buddha states, yet the monkeys in the surrounding hills did not dare enter the temple. I discovered that the reason for this was, that the temple had large cuddly to crocodiles, that scared the monkeys. I bought myself a toy crocodile and tested the idea for myself. It works. However in my case there were a few baby monkeys that did not seem to recognize the crocodile, so I had to squeeze is to produce a squeaky sound and this did the trick.
Loburi is known as the Monkey capital of Thailand and monkeys run around here all over the place. There are two big rival gangs of them that fight with each other. I have seen them steal reading glasses from people and run off with them, they almost got mine on one occasion. So if you visit here be very careful with your belongings.
