Police officers rescued a drowning dog from a river in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on November 12.

One officer named Yash Pal Singh on a large piece of rubber floated toward the dog and managed to pull it out of the Sabarmati Riverfront.

He then passed the pooch to officers standing upon the riverbank.

He said: "I immediately rushed there and took a rubber raft along. I managed to save the dog."

The stray canine was given immediate treatment before being released onto the streets.

Police officers in western India's Gujarat, successfully rescued a dog that was drowning in a water body.

The incident took place in Sabarmati Riverfront, Ahmedabad district on November 12.

Visuals showed one policeman rescuing the dog from the water. Using a stick, he repeatedly tried to get hold of the dog in the water and after a number of attempts, he was able to have the animal in his control.

The cop named Yash Pal Singh, who was floating on a plastic surface attached to a bridge, then tied the dog with a rope-like thing and the animal was subsequently pulled up the bridge by the cop's colleagues.

Later, they helped him get on the bridge up as well after the dog was untied following its rescue.

Speaking to Newslions Constable Yash said, "I immediately rushed there and took a rubber raft along. I managed to save the dog,”

He also said that if someone else would have been in my place they would have done the same.
