This is the amusing moment a drunk tourist plays with a burning sky lantern during Thailand's Festival of Lights.

Footage shows the tipsy man having trouble releasing the object during the Loy Krathong festival celebration on the beach in Pattaya, Chonburi province, on November 8.

The sozzled holidaymaker did his best to launch the lantern into the sky, but his efforts were hampered by the strong wind.

Onlooker Thaksin Thiamsak said: "It looked like it was his first time releasing the lantern. Everybody on the beach was hoping to see the lantern eventually floating up in the sky. But in the end, it just fell into the water".

Loy Krathong, also known as Thailand's Festival of Lights, is an annual festival celebrated nationwide with followers gathering on the shores of lakes, rivers, canals, and beaches to release floating lanterns to worship the Goddess of Water Kong Ka.
