Robin Morrison spent morning and evening at the coastal plain and wetland area to document the birds. He explains: "Thousands of starlings are now starting to gather on the Somerset Level for the winter roost. "At the weekend I went out at dawn and dusk to watch the birds departing from the roost at sunrise and then return at sunset. "There are currently around 100,000 birds in the roost although this might increase when the colder winter weather arrives. "Also, at the moment they are roosting close to the public paths so they are giving some wonderful views. "The exact roost site will move over the next few weeks as the birds are more or less free to pick any suitable site on the Somerset Levels." The Somerset Levels are a coastal plain and wetland area of Somerset, England, running south from the Mendips to the Blackdown Hills.
