Giant red poppy decorates London's HMS Belfast

A giant red poppy decorates HMS Belfast museum ship on the River Thames as London commemorates all those who have died in conflicts since the First World War.

The reason red poppies are used to remember those who have given their lives in the line of duty is because they were the flowers that grew on the battlefields after World War One ended.

Built for the Royal Navy in 1936, HMS Belfast is operated by the Imperial War Museum.
