Thousands of spectators lined the Bhairab River in Bangladesh to watch a traditional boat race on November 12.

Eight boats took part in the competition and prizes were awarded to the winners.

The traditional boat race of village Bengal was held on Bhairab river in Jessore's Nawapara. Entertainment lovers gathered on both sides of the river to enjoy the competition throughout the day on Friday. Village fairs with boul, zari, sari songs along with exciting baich make the audience more mesmerized. With the slogan “Rotsini Bhairav ​​Naad Bachate Sami Aye Aasu” like every year the boat race is organized on the Bhairab river which flows over the industrial town of Jessore. Nawapara Municipality organizes this boat ride. Thousands of people thronged both sides of the river to enjoy the competition.

8 boats including Narail, Gopalganj and Khulnar participated in the competition. Khulna's Terkhadar Sonar Bangla boat won first place in the competition. At the end of the competition, prizes were handed over to the winners as chief guests by Jessore 5 Constituency Member of Parliament, District Commissioner Md. Tamijul Islam, Nawapara Municipal Mayor Sushant Das Shanto and other dignitaries of the area.
