A wild boar was caught and killed after taking refuge in a university for four days in southern China.

Video filmed at Jiangxi Normal University on November 11 shows a wild boar swimming along a river and climbing onto the shore to enter the university.

The wild boar was then seen running around on the campus.

According to reports, officials used infrared drones and other devices to search for the wild boar on the campus and finally caught it at a pool in the bamboo forest east of the campus.

An employee of Nanchang Wildlife Protection Centre said: "Since we did not have guns, three hunting dogs were injured during the process of catching the wild boar.

"The boar was a 161-kilogram and 1.8-metre-long adult male with 5-centimetre-long tusks. It was not clear where the boar had come from."

The video was provided by local media with permission.
