A woman is selling unusual Christmas decorations for the festive season including “eye-baubles” covered in a realistic “foreskin”, “mistle-toes” and even dismembered “elf limbs”.

Janet Ross, 52, a full-time horror artist and unpaid carer from northeast England, sells the creepy items through her online shop and also shares the gruesome creations on her TikTok.

Each ornament is unique and most are made from organic materials, and fairly affordable – if you don't mind splashing £15 on 'foreskin'.

“I mostly make macabre, weird and horror decorative items," Janet told NeedToKnow.Online, who runs Design Freaks Emporium on Etsy.

"My business name stems from being called a 'freak' at school, I took this as a compliment as I didn't want to 'fit' I wanted to be 'me'.

“Inspiration comes from all over for me.

"Sometimes I'll acquire a doll or a figurine and they will 'tell' me what they want to be.

“Most of my makes are organic and they are rarely identical, even the baubles all have different textures and paint finishes.

"I can be inspired by something as simple as a dream, a book cover, a picture, or even while having conversations with friends and customers.”

In one TikTok, Janet can be seen hanging some of her unusual creations while in another, she creates shrunken severed Santa heads – it's fair to say she's probably on the jolly man's naughty list.

Despite her unusual business, Janet herself actually isn't a big fan of Christmas.

She first started experimenting with the decorations in 2014, after people asked her to recreate her coveted Whitby Goth Festival looks and props.

She said: “I'm really not a Christmas fan at all […] I just find it all too forced and impersonal, I don't decorate my home, send cards or buy many gifts.”

“It's buying for buyings sake. I also hate the wastefulness and stress Christmas brings.

“Obviously everyone is entitled to celebrate as they see fit and I'm totally fine with that. People find me weirder for not liking Christmas than they do for my art […],”

"I first started making Christmas baubles in a steampunk style.

"I slowly found my own style; at the time I was experimenting with making things to resemble human skin, so I gave it a go and the first few sold straight away.

"Also blood's red too so that's festive right?

“I have some MistleToes, which are severed toes with a sprig of mistletoe attached – well it was just begging to be done!

"I've just listed some severed elf and Santa limbs, I was given a huge amount of spare doll arms and legs so this had to be done."

Janet is also open for commissions and has had some pretty bizarre requests in the past.

She said: “I think my favourite commissions were a conjoined infant skull in a bell jar, quite simple in its look (I tend to love adding details) but it turned out perfect.

"The other was a zombie version of two friends, sewn together in a jar.

"That one was so much fun, I even made teeny tiny glasses."

As for people's reactions, it's a mixed response with many people shocked by the realistic look.

She added: "At events, I make a box covered in 'skin' and people are always reluctant to touch it.

“I definitely take this as a compliment.

"I also alter porcelain dolls, I remove their heads and replace them with needle-felted animal heads and paws. I have comments about how realistic some of those are.

“I actually try to dial down the shock factor as that's not what I'm about, I find dark and macabre things 'pretty' and everything I make is just part of me, part of my inner self."

Social media users also react strongly to the creator's designs frequently.

“I would hang these on my tree [...] best thing about Xmas: Xmas horror movies, Krampus, creepy Santa’s,” commented one user on Janet's baubles.

“Nothing like fresh air round your baubles,” commented one user.

In another clip Janet revealed another piece of home decor, a ‘live, laugh, love’ poster made out of fake skin and teeth.

“that not creepy at all,” commented one user [sic].

“Okay Ed Gien” commented another.

“I’ve never wanted a live, laugh, love sign until now!”
