Two teens rushed to hospital after being stabbed at Christmas market in early morning knife attack
Two teenage boys have been rushed to hospital after being stabbed at a Christmas market in an early morning knife attack. Emergency services rushed to the scene after the horror unfolded in front of commuters and shoppers on New Street, in Birmingham, at 8.30am today (Thurs). The victims, both 17, were rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked outside the Odeon cinema where the city's Frankfurt Christmas Market is located. West Midlands Police has launched an investigation and cordoned off the area, which includes dozens of festive bars, stalls and food kiosks. A police spokesperson said: "We’re investigating after two teenagers were stabbed in Birmingham city centre this morning (17 November). "It happened outside the Odeon on New Street just before 8.30am. The young men, both 17, have been taken to hospital with serious injuries. "We’ve cordoned off the area and fast-track enquiries are ongoing to try and find those responsible. "We’d urge anyone with any information to contact us via Live Chat on our website or call 101. Please quote log number 671 of 17 November." A second area near the Bull Ring shopping centre was also cordoned off by officers as enquiries were carried out. Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market boasts of being the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria. Now in its 22nd year, It attracts 5.5 million visitors a year and will be running until December 23.
