An echidna was filmed casually using a zebra crossing - while traffic waited patiently. John McGill, 45, was driving to the shops in Lake Macquarie, in New South Wales, Australia, when he saw the spiky creature crawling from one side of the road to the other. In the video, traffic is at a stand still while drivers wait for it to travel across the road. It can be seen moving at a snails' pace as it crawls over the zebra crossing, before mounting the pavement and sliding away into a nearby bush. John, a school teacher from Whitebridge, said: "They're really rare animals, so to see one in broad day light using a zebra crossing was quite bizarre. "I got out to make sure the other cars had noticed it, and they had, so I started filming. "It shuffled across the road slowly and then, just like that, disappeared off into the buses." The video was filmed on November 17.
