A rider and his pillion passenger were knocked from their motorcycle when a stray dog darted across the road.

CCTV footage shows the two men hurtling from the two-wheeler when the escaped pet dashed through in Bukidnon province, the Philippines on November 15.

The terrified motorists quickly stood up after rolling over and went to the side of the road while the dog fell unconscious.

Both men suffered wounds on arms and legs but were not seriously hurt while the pooch was taken to the animal shelter.

A local government officer said: ‘Two dogs were chasing after each other and one of them hit a passing motorcycle.

‘Let's always be cautious and always look at intersections. Please be responsible pet owners too.'

Officers took the motorists to a clinic to have their wounds treated while their motorcycle was taken to a garage for repair.

Another team took the critically-injured dog to an animal centre. It was unclear, however, if the dog had survived its injuries.
