Cow falls into unsealed sewage canal near highway in southern India, rescued
A cow was rescued by firefighters after it fell into an unsealed sewage canal in the Chennai Bangalore National Highway in southern India's Tamil Nadu.
The incident happened in Santhavelur, Kanchipuram district on November 20.
Visuals showed the firefighters in their mission to rescue the trapped cow. They had tied ropes around the cow and with all their might, pulled the animal out of the sewage canal. The bovine was laid on the ground after being taken out, following which the officials sprinkled water on its face and body, trying to get the animal back on its feet.
After a while, the cow seemed to try and get back up on its own as the officials continued to sprinkle water from a bucket at the animal, which seemed to give it a bit of relief. According to a report, the cow had been missing for the past four days with its owner searching several places for the animal.
Receiving information about the trapped animal from the owner of a restaurant near the spot of this incident, he then informed the fire department. Officials of the Sriperumbudur fire department arrived at the spot to rescue the animal. Initially, they had reportedly thought of breaking open the sewage canal with the help of an excavator.
With the idea not working, they then tied a rope to pull out of the cow. The animal was then given back to its owner.
