BMKG Records 62 Aftershocks in Cianjur as of Monday Night

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded that aftershocks occurred in Cianjur, West Java, until Monday (21/11) evening, at 19.00 WIB.

"As of 19.00 WIB, there were 62 aftershocks. The largest magnitude was M4.2 and the smallest magnitude was M1.5," said Head of BMKG Bandung Geophysics Station, Teguh Rahayu via text message, Monday (21/11).

Given that aftershocks in Cianjur are still occurring, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil appealed to the public to remain vigilant.

Emil, as Ridwan Kamil is called, also expressed his concern for this natural disaster, it is hoped that there will not be many victims, both property and lives.

"I heard the news of the earthquake in Cianjur, the information was that several buildings were damaged. I am sorry for this incident, I hope there are not many victims, both property and lives," he said.

The former mayor of Bandung also visited the earthquake site directly. However, he still asked the public not to panic about the news of possible aftershocks.

"I also urge the public at this time to remain vigilant in the face of possible aftershocks, look for a safe place, such as an open field," he said.

The tectonic earthquake occurred at 13.21 WIB in the Cianjur and surrounding areas. Earthquake information from the BMKG said the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.6. The location of the earthquake was at 6.84 South Latitude, 107.05 East Longitude or 10 kilometers southwest of Cianjur Regency.

The earthquake, which was centered in Cianjur, was felt in a number of areas in West Java, Central Java, Banten and DKI Jakarta
