Hot-headed Belgian tourist caught on CCTV punching woman rider in fit of road rage in Thailand
A hot-headed Belgian tourist was caught on CCTV punching a woman rider in a fit of road rage in Thailand.
The foreigner was switching lanes on his Honda PCX scooter with a pillion passenger when the local on a red motorcycle cut him off in Pattaya on November 17.
He chased after the female to confront her and punched her in the face when she began filming.
CCTV footage shows the tourist walking up to the woman and hitting her in the face before leaving.
Shocked road user Warittha Chindakarn, 26, said: ‘I was riding to work and using the motorcycle lane. I sounded my horn to alert him that I was passing through but he was so arrogant and angry.'
The worker added that the tourist appeared annoyed at the use of her horn and swore at her while chasing her along the road.
Warittha said: ‘He shouted many obscene words to me. I pulled over at a shop sor him to talk to me.
‘He asked me if I didn't see him, and he told me I was rude. He was aggressive so I tried to leave before he hurt me. I was recording it on my phone but he threatened me.'
Aside from hitting the woman in the face, Warittha said the tourist threw away her iPhone 13 Pro Max before fleeing the scene.
Warittha said: ‘I could not defend myself. I let them leave and asked for the CCTV recording from the shop.
‘I am asking for help from the police and the media please help me catch this bad man.'
The incident has been reported to the police who will now try to mediate between the pair to make a financial arrangement for the case to be settled.
Pattaya City Police Station investigator Police Lieutenant Colonel Chanchai Pimchan said they will invite both parties to explain their sides.
He said: ‘We have the CCTV recording as evidence. To be fair on both sides, we will invite them to an interview at the station so we can know what happened.'
