This is the heartwarming moment a newborn kitten stuck under a dirty sewer was rescued in Thailand.

The one-week-old stray feline was heard crying by a concerned security guard working at a warehouse in Nong Khao province on November 14 evening.

But when the old finally found where the cat had been trapped, he could not lift off the steel drain cover on his own so he waited in the morning to call the animal rescuers for help.

Footage shows the security guard and a young volunteer prying open the heavy drain cover with a steel rod.

Security guard Wanlop Kulchat said: ‘The sewer was a metre deep and about five metres long. I saw it was sitting on the corner but I could not remove the cover alone.'

When the rescue team arrived, the cat was wet in the corner of the drain, crying.

A young volunteer climbed down and used his phone's flashlight to lure the creature out.

After 20 minutes, the kitten was pulled out of the drain safely without injuries.

The rescuer washed the dirt from the kitten's fur and took it back to their office which would serve as its temporary home while looking for new owners.
