This is the gruesome moment a wild python was caught eating pet guinea pigs inside their cage.

The 10ft-long serpent slithered into the rodents' enclosure at night before attacking them in Bangkok, Thailand on November 17.

It was then discovered by the house owner in the morning coiled around the dead creatures guarding its meal.

Footage shows the hungry snake inside the cage scaring the pet owner away with the dead guinea pigs around its body.

Pet owner Kessaraporn Boonk said: ‘I have been hearing strange sounds at the back of the house. When I went out to feed my guinea pigs, two of them have died with a snake inside.'

Kessaraporn called the animal rescuers for help removing the snake from the property.

He said: ‘I could not remove the python on my own because it was aggressive. It tried to bite me while I was filming it.'

The snake was later taken back to the forest to be released.

The pet owner added: ‘I buried my guinea pigs in the backyard. I will have to build a net around the cages to prevent snakes from attacking them again.'
