Locals created their own "World Cup village" decorated with dozens of football memorabilia ranging from replicas of the trophy to the tournament's groups being painted on walls.

According to Arnaldo Guntur Fonataba: "We make this World Cup Village every four years. At first it was the 2014 World Cup. At first we were just doing it for fun, but it received attention from residents and FIFA, so in 2018 we again established the World Cup Village, up to the World Cup. World Qatar 2022 we are again establishing a World Cup Village.

"We have participated in the World Cup Village competition several times which was held by a number of private television stations in Indonesia which became the Official Broadcast of the World Cup.
