Four-year-old boy pulled alive from rubble three days after quake struck Indonesia
A four-year-old boy named Azka was pulled alive from the rubble three days after a 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit Indonesia.
The child's uncle, Wahyudin (29), showed the National Search and Rescue Agency (SAR) where the child was suspected to have been before the quake struck Cianjur. He said Azka was in his bedroom.
At first, emergency services tried to break into the wall and found a lot of plywood but no signs of life. After digging, the rescuers spotted the child and pulled him out from the rubble.
The footage shows the heartwarming moment the uncle and the child were finally reunited. Wahyudin can be seen stroking the little boy as he is given a fresh drink.
Azka, accompanied by his uncle and aunt, was brought to Cianjur Hospital to receive medical treatment. The child didn't talk much when he was admitted to the hospital. However, he accepted to eat some delicious biscuits and said "I want it".
Azka's rescue mission was part of a wider operation focusing on four areas of Cugenang District. Many are believed to be still buried under the rubble.
It has been reported that at least 268 people died in the earthquake. Among the victims are many children.
