A panicked driver rushed to turn off an overheating oil truck's engine as smoke poured from the front.

The trucker pulled over on the side of a road when he noticed the engine had a problem in Chaiyaphum province, Thailand on November 20.

However, seconds after he stopped, a thick cloud of smoke was seen emerging from his exhaust.

Footage shows the driver frantically running to turn off the vehicle as plumes of smoke filled the air.

Onlooker Panirang Thung said: ‘It looked like it would break down any minute. The amount of smoke was unusual.'

The local added that the truck carried oil which made them even more scared.

She said: ‘It could explode if not fixed on time.'

The broken engine was turned off however and a mechanic was called to help the driver handle the vehicle.
