A talented father made a beautiful purple bonsai tree using empty bleach bottles.

Nelson John See, 45, found the brightly-coloured trash in his neighbour's garbage bin and took it home in Cainta, the Philippines on September 10.

The artistic father then recycled the plastic bottles to turn them into a flowering bush using wires and scissors.

Footage shows Nelson cutting the purple bottle into strips which he used as petals and leaves for the bonsai.

He said: ‘I teach my sons to recycle, and my hobby is one of the best ways I see to show them.'

Environmentally conscious Nelson added he collected the materials from his neighbourhood.

He said: ‘We don't throw away the bottles in case we can re-use them. I also check my neighbour's bin for things that could still be used.'

For the base, he used a soup bowl filled with styrofoam. He then used wires to make the branches and glued the parts together.

The father said: ‘It's a nice tree. I will keep it in my home.'
