Anti-government protesters converged on the Thai police headquarters today to condemn the state violence at a rally last week.

Dozens of demonstrators and a number of photographers and journalists were injured at the rally against the APEC summit which was held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Apparent heavy-handed police tactics at the protest - including the use of rubber bullets - have been condemned by the human rights group Amnesty International. Officers were also seen kicking a reporter and beating protesters with batons. A Reuters photographer was struck in the face by a glass bottle thrown from the line of police.

Representatives from multiple domestic news organisations have also petitioned parliament to investigate the use of force during the protest on November 18.

The chaos started when demonstrators marched through the city as wold leaders joined the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2022 summit which started a couple of days earlier.

Violent clashes erupted with riot squads firing rubber bullets at demonstrators and charging at them with shields. One man collapsed injured, a female photographer was hit in the face by a glass bottle and a male photographer was hit in the eye by one of the projectiles. Both of them received treatment at the scene for their wounds.

China despot Xi Jinping - fresh from his clash at the G20 in Bali with liberal Canadian PM Justin Trudeau - arrived for the event and warned of 'attempts to wage a new cold war'.
