Baby boy rescued by passing neighbour after teenager mum dumps him in heap of trash
A baby boy was rescued by a passing neighbour after his teenager mum dumped him on a heap of trash in Thailand.
The newborn was heard crying by a resident who was walking her dog along a dark street in Chonburi province on November 27.
Shocked Surachai Kaewpha, 54, followed the strange sounds and saw the garbage pile where he found the yellow plastic bag with a baby inside.
Footage shows Surachai with her neighbours tending to the baby boy, still inside the plastic. Another clip showed medics checking the baby's health outside their ambulance.
Surachai said: ‘I was walking my dog around 6 am when I heard the crying baby. I was expecting to see a kitten but I found the plastic, and it was a baby boy.
‘He was cute, his arms and legs were moving inside the plastic. I pulled the plastic bag among the heaps of trash and took him home.'
The baby was cleaned up and wrapped in a white blanket as her relatives and neighbours called officers for help.
Medics arrived with the ambulance and took the baby boy to Bang Laming hospital.
Meanwhile, police investigated the scene and found several discarded tissue paper, blood stains, and a substance believed to have been the placenta around the area.
Soon after, they found a lead on the baby's mother when rescue worker Thanapong Ok-Oun told police about a 17-year-old woman living nearby who called for help after suffering from haemorrhage.
Officers checked the CCTV in the apartment where the youngster lived and saw her walking out of the building. She returned about ten minutes later, heavily bleeding as blood dripped behind her on the floor.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Nattawat Ploenchit said: ‘We found the woman's apartment. We will talk to her with the help of social workers since she is a minor.
‘The baby, on the other hand, is strong and in a safe condition. He will stay at the hospital during the investigation.'
