This is the shocking moment a truck's burning tire came loose and then shot into the air like a rocket.

The 12-wheeler lorry was making a turn on a highway when smoke was seen emerging from one of the rear wheels in Bangkok, Thailand, on November 20.

Soon after, a blaze emerged from under the vehicle with the driver pulling over to the side and residents rushing to help him.

However, as they poured water on the flames, the burning tire shot upwards into the sky, sending the men fleeing from the scene.

Shop owner Khun Panumat said: ‘We heard a very loud sound and an object landed on my roof. My store was damaged.'

A rider stopped nearby and suffered minor wounds after being hit with burning debris.

The cause of the burning tire remained unclear but the incident was reported to the police for investigation.
