A lively giant mascot fell flat on his face during a parade.

Footage shows the 9ft–tall wooden character worn by a performer losing balance and collapsing amid shocked locals in Rizal province, the Philippines on November 20.

The crowd could be heard gasping in unison as the mascot landed on its face before organisers helped him stand up.

Onlooker Vince Imperial said: ‘The mascot was a bit heavy because they're made from wood and they had to greet people on the long road.

‘He was also energetic. Maybe that's why he was very tired.'

However, Vince added that the performer inside the mascot was unhurt.

He said: ‘Nothing serious happened to him. He still finished the parade. Everyone was entertained.'

The parade was part of the celebration of Higantes Festival or ‘giant' festival. It is celebrated every year to express gratitude to patron Saint Clement.
