The ceremonial hand over of the report into alleged money laundering at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala game farm took place at parliament in Cape Town. The report was handed over by chairman of the panel, retired chief justice Sandile Ngcobo, to the speaker of parliament Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.

Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula will make the report available to members of parliament to consider in a sitting of the National Assembly on 6 December. Members of parliament will then decide whether to institute impeachment proceedings against President Ramaphosa.

Brett Herron, secretary-general of GOOD Party, said he appreciated the sober manner in which the handover was done considering the gravity of the allegations.

Bantu Holomisa, leader of the United Democratic Movement (UDM), said they are happy the report has been tabled and released to members of parliament and the public to know what it contains. The UDM called for the report to be released immediately.

Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen said they were still in the dark about what was happening but indicated that there were a few hints from the retired chief justice. Steenhuisen believes the report still remains as unsubstantiated allegations and would have preferred an adhoc parliamentary enquiry into the matter.
