A hero driver rescued a dog with head its head stuck in a plastic jar in Thailand.

Kittipong Atharn, 35, was driving along a road when they noticed a scared stray pooch with trash covering its face in Nakhon Ratchasima province on September 10.

The driver with his friends then chased after the creature along the highway before pulling over to help it.

Footage shows the motorists pursuing the pooch. The group also stopped on the roadside as the dog made a turn onto a village to hide behind an abandoned house.

Dog lover Kittipong said: ‘I felt so sorry for the dog. It was scared and would not let anyone near it.'

The pooch was agile and evaded the good Samaritans so Kittipong decided to seek help from local officials.

To slow the dog down, they darted it with anesthesia and cut the plastic jar off its head.

The dog was unhurt although it was starving and dehydrated. Local officials took it to an animal shelter to recover.

Kittipong said: ‘I was relieved nothing bad happened to the dog. Some of the residents told us that the dog had been running with the jar like that for a week.'
