Thirteen crew members were rescued after a 5,000-tonne Guangdong container ship “Yusheng 788” sunk in southern China.

Video filmed off the coast of Fujian Province on November 30 shows 13 people on a life float in the middle of a sea while a cargo ship transporting steel approaches the float.

According to reports, Xue Junfa, the captain of the Yongda 99 ship, received a message to ask for help off the Gulei Peninsula in eastern China.

He approached the life float carefully over the course of 40 minutes and threw ropes and life buoys to save the trapped crew.

After around half an hour, all 13 boat crew members were successfully rescued.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
