Motorbike cops chased a drug suspect as he led them on a high-speed chase through fields and a market in Thailand.

Footage shows the officers pursuing the suspicious motorcycle rider after he was flagged down for a missing license plate in Ang Thong province on November 21.

The motorist raced through several intersections and even entered a busy market while trying to shake off the police.

He was finally caught when he stumbled off his motorcycle while turning a curve and running into oncoming traffic.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Yosakorn King Lak Mueang, squadron commander of the Ang Thong police station, said: 'The incident took place at 6:40 pm. We were on patrol in the area when we noticed the motorcycle did not have a license plate and the driver was acting suspicious.

'When we called out to him, he sped away and ended up crossing the Ang Thong bridge before he was caught at the intersection.'

The suspect named Wattana or Noi Chuherd, 35, allegedly admitted to using methamphetamine and said he fled out of panic when he saw the cops.

He said: 'I had just taken methamphetamine and my motorcycle did not have a license plate. I was frightened and shocked when I saw the police, so I ran away before I was arrested.'

Wattana is expected to be charged for using a category 1 drug and will be prosecuted according to the law.
