A hapless kitten with its head stuck in a polysterene box's hole was rescued.

The young feline found the discarded television box while playing with siblings at a heap of trash in Paranaque, the Philippines, on November 24.

It had been stuck for almost an hour crying until kind passersby saw the trio and helped them.

Footage shows the scared little creature's head trapped in the narrow hole while its body dangled from the outside. The residents tore off pieces of the Styrofoam to let the animal out.

Local Arnel Lachica said: ‘We saw three kittens on the roadside. Two of them were crying not far away from the box.

‘When we checked the box, there was Styrofoam inside with the trapped kitten. It was scared and tired.'

The kitten was freed in less than five minutes. All three cats were adopted and taken to their new home.

Arnel added: ‘They were all so cute. We will take care of them from now on.'
