You'd expect Dutch fans on boats on the canals of Amsterdam but you might also find them in Papua in Indonesia.
A whole group of fanatic fans staged an impressive convoy of boats ahead of their team's game against the US, complete with flags and the iconic orange shirts of the Netherlands team.
The footage filmed on December 2 ahead of the Dutch side's win over the US, shows groups made up of Dutch people and Indonesian supporters of the Netherlands team joining forces to celebrate their team.
They are in boats waving Dutch flags, setting off orange smoke, and sporting Netherlands jerseys.
Fans of the Dutch National Team in Indonesia, to be precise in Jayapura City, the capital city of Papua Province, are again carrying out a unique action, namely a sea convoy using a number of boats in the waters of Humbolt Bay, Jayapura City, Friday (2/12/2022).
Most of them are fanatical Dutch fans who have passed down from generation to generation from their parents who had received education from the Netherlands when the Dutch arrived in Papua. And some of them support the Dutch National Team because the Total Football played by the Netherlands in every match is very interesting.
Carrying a number of Dutch National Team flags and De Oranje attributes, these fanatical fans from the land of Papua carried out a sea convoy action starting from the starting point, Djasman Pier, Berg En Dal (Lower Argapura), and encircling Humbolt Bay.
The action of the sea convoy of the Dutch national team fans in the waters of Jayapura is a form of support and love as well as appreciation for the De Oranje Team in encouraging the participation of the Netherlands in the Qatar 2022 World Cup and the passage of the fans' favorite national team to the round of 16 at this prestigious event every four years.
This sea convoy was carried out by fans and was directly followed by the Head of International Strategy of the KNVB, Ilja Dijkstra who was making his first visit to the land of Papua, Jayapura City, Friday (2/12/2022).
The convoy of Dutch National Team fans was initiated by two Fan Club communities in Jayapura City, namely the Berg En Dal Community in Jayapura City and Papua Voor Holland.
Head of the Berg En Dal Community, Omty Hay, said that before the match for the Dutch National Team in the group phase, members of the community agreed to carry out a convoy in the sea waters of Jayapura City.
Omty said the convoy this time was the second convoy that was being held with the Papua Voor Holland Community, the Royal Netherlands Football Association or (KNVB) and De Oranje Indonesia.
According to Omty, convoys at sea are different from those on land, so the community wants to present something unique.
He added that the third Omty parade would be carried out by supporters of the Jayapura Dutch National Team if the team nicknamed De Oranje managed to qualify for the top 8 knockout phase.
The steps of the Dutch National Team at the 2022 Qatar World Cup itself are not a mere figment. They were able to qualify for the round of 16 in the world football event every four years.
Team De Oranje started the campaign by beating Senegal 2-0. They then slipped by being held by Ecuador 1-1, before confirming a ticket to the last 16 of the 2022 World Cup after silencing Qatar 2-0.
The Netherlands ended the group phase with a score of seven points, three one point ahead of nearest competitor Senegal. With this status, they are scheduled to face the United States Group B runner-up at the Khalifa International Stadium, Al Rayyan, Saturday (3/12/2022) at 22.00 WIB.
Van Gaal has fielded 18 of the 26 players he brought to Qatar. Only five are always grazing from three matches, entirely filling the back line. They are Andries Noppert, Nathan Ake, Daley Blind, Virgil van Dijk and Denzel Dumfries.
This condition shows Van Gaal's priority in patenting defense at the World Cup. After successfully suppressing the opponent's attack, he handed over the task of scoring goals to players from other sectors.
