An inspiring acid attack victim has become a favorite with online shoppers by selling handmade bags.

Prerm Sreyoun, 40, was left blind and misshapen when an acquaintance threw the corrosive substance on her face in 1999 due to business misunderstandings.

Trying to rebuild her life, the single mother moved from her rural home with her two young daughters to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and began learning to sew to provide for her small family.

In the first few years, mother Prerm earned enough income to cover their needs until she sold the handmade accessories on Facebook live broadcasts and more people discovered her products.

Footage shows Prerm sewing a yellow bag as two girls alternately help their mum sell their bags and hats on live camera. Prerm will also show her fans how the handcrafted accessories are made while the youngsters display the designs and specifics of the bags to their customers.

Prerm said: ‘Even if I have an ugly face, I still believed in my brain's beauty. I think that's better than the physical.'

Despite her strength, Prerm added that she thought she would not survive during the first year of recovery mainly because of her physical appearance.

She said: ‘I thought of suicide many times. I felt I would not survive because of what the people thought and said. It was a dark chapter in my life.'

She learned how to sew bags and worked on improving her craft until she could make her first bag. Facebook then gave her an outlet to sell her wares away from the crowded markets where cruel locals would stare and judge her over the injuries.

From a simple crocheted hat pattern, the talented mum-of-two expanded her designs with colours varying from pink, red, purple, yellow, and blue.

She said: ‘We lived in a rental room worth 110 USD. I made two bags per day and developed my design using a machine.

‘My daughters are very helpful. They should play and learn, but they had to handle some tasks around the house.'

With teamwork, Prerm said they can cover the expense of living in the city and thanked Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg for creating a platform that allows her to earn a respectable living.

She said: ‘We go live selling every night and earn around 3 to 4 USD. I am optimistic that I will be successful. My dream is to send my girls up to graduate school.

'I can do this because of Facebook. It has given me a purpose and hope, when other people shunned me.'
